Ian (Dansk) in hospital with CMV
by Alleymom inhi, everyone ---.
claire asked me to let the board know that ian is back in the hospital and expected to be there for about a week.. those of you who have been following the weekly vigil thread know that his cmv has returned.
the virus is not responding adequately to the tablets, so ian needs to be medicated intravenously.. please keep ian and claire in your prayers.. marjorie.

Scully - thank you for your candour.
I agree with many of your sentiments - my sense of justice dictates that I do nothing and treat her as she is treating us.
However, I want to bigger than this and appeal to her heart in any way I can.
Also, she is not a bad person AT ALL, she really is a victim in these circumstances and I can just imagine Besty's hardline PO brother constantly drip feeding her the party line "come on mother, I know it's hard but we really are being loyal to Jehovah, blah, blah, blah".
So, if ever she did feel like weakening and giving in to her natural affection I am convinced the BIL is constantly reinforcing the tough love approach.
I know she is broken hearted. I hate the organisation for this. They are cruel, evil, b@£$*ards. -

I think the profile of the members will change slightly.
More and more will leave due to the abundance of information available, especially younger ones.
Faithful, loyal older ones will continue to bury their heads in the sand and forgive the organisation everything, "after all the Israelites were guilty of a lot worse!".
There will still continue to be many who join during personal crises who think they've discovered the best thing since jam doughnuts.
I look around at my generation though and see approximately 50% of the people I grew up with have left.
It will certainly be an interesting time over the next 10 years. -

Thanks for all the great advice everyone.
I sent a thank you letter - the boys are too young to write one.
I decided to leave off referring to the elephant on the coffee table but will save that for another time.
Thanks again, I really did appreciate your comments. -

My kid comes home from the meeting worried about the devil. I'm not happy.
by jambon1 inthis was one of the many reasons that i left the org.
i just could not agree with some of the beliefs & ideas that kids are exposed to at the hall.
having not been raised in the org, i never had any idea what effect it all had on kids.

I would recommend reading 'Parenting Beyond Belief' - it gives some good practical advice on how to get a child to reason on make believe characters. Get your child to think of Satan as just another story character like Darth Vadar!

Cognac, what you're going through is totally natural as you are facing a very UNNATURAL situation!
Please don't do anything rash - I did and regret it.
I didn't take the majority of the advice here and now I have NO ACCESS to those I love (other than my ma and pa, luckily they're not die hard JW's).
If you are clever you can fade and still influence others that you love but you have to be prepared that helping them might take years.
On the other hand I felt exactly how you do and couldn't be a hypocrite in any way and I opened my big mouth to everyone.
Very quickly we (Besty and I) were disfellowshipped for apostasy.
The first seven months after finding out the truth about the truth were the most emotional and traumatic of my life but now the fog is lifting and life is better. We have new friends, have been in contact with old friends that left and life free from lies, without the worry of constantly looking over our shoulders for people wanting to dob us in for the slightest thing is great.
Think carefully. Wait 6 months before you do anything major. -

Hi Mike and Sam
Sorry to hear you're going through the mill right now.
We'll be thinking of you.
Much love

PS We're moving to the States (LA) soon, if this all blows over and you all need a break you'd be very welcome to come and stay. -

Welcome fadeout. Great post. You definitely have style.
Look forward to hearing more.
And don't worry about the smileys - I can't use any of the emoticons as I'm posting from a mac!
